This year, February 27th to March 11th is Fairtrade week – seven days dedicated to encouraging more people to commit to Fairtrade goods and companies. As part of its continued support of Fairtrade, Laura Ashley is encouraging everyone to make a step, small or large, towards a more Fairtrade UK. Together, Laura Ashley, Fairtrade and its supporters aim to take 1.5 million steps towards fairer trading practices in 2012. That’s one step for every Fairtrade producer around the world. Each step taken leads to a better deal for millions of farmers and workers in developing countries. Supporters can register their step online at the Fairtrade website (fairtrade.org.uk/step).
Customers can now support Fairtrade by shopping from Laura Ashley’s Fairtrade cotton collections, which support sustainable livelihoods for farmers, workers and their communities, enabling cotton producers to maintain a decent and dignified livelihood. The collection includes an array of pretty, versatile cotton tops, and can be found on the Laura Ashley website now, where further information about Fairtrade is also available.
