Community guidelines

The content which you see on Socialshopping is a result of the collective contributions and input of all Socialshopping members. By submitting offers and shops, and sending your questions and feedback to our team, you have the power to shape the site. 

Here are a few quick ‘Do’s and ‘Don’t’s when contributing to Socialshopping as a member: 

Do: 

• Share offers which you think will be of interest to other members; you will be giving to the community and we will reward you via the Socialshopping points system
• Tell your friends about the site and invite them using our simple form (again, you can earn points for doing so!) 
• Leave thoughtful notes about items of which you have a strong opinion or direct experience 
• Suggest new shops which you like so that we can add them to the Socialshopping database 
• Try to use correct spelling and grammar wherever possible 
• Try to help fellow members to get the most out of the site 
• Help us to improve the site by sending us your ideas and feedback
• Come back often and get the most out of Socialshopping! 

Don't: 

• Post profanity or anything pornographic or sexually explicit. If you can't imagine it being on prime time TV, it doesn't belong on here. Nudity isn't allowed in buddy icons or any images posted to Socialshopping. 
• Engage in personal attacks, or long-winded and tedious rants
• Post your own or anyone else's personal information, including email addresses and other contact information 
• Spam, advertise or promote commercial entities. Personal suggestions of a specific item in a relevant category are encouraged, however. 
• Post blatantly off-topic submissions that add no value to the context where they are submitted 
• Promote or endorse graphic or gratuitous violence, illegal activity, or any action designed to inflect intentional harm on anyone 
• Do anything illegal. We will report you to the authorities if you do. 
• Use hateful language - that is, language which attacks or demeans a group based on race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, or sexual orientation/gender identity 
• Use predatory language, stalking, threats, harassment, or impersonation, or invade other people's privacy 

We're pretty relaxed and if you do something wrong accidentally we'll let you know...but if you keep on making the same mistake or being flagged for editorial review we'll have to delete your account. 

Some content areas contain a ‘flag’ icon. If you feel the content you're viewing violates any of the principles above, you can flag it and it will be reviewed by our editors. If the content is found to be in violation of these Community Guidelines, it may be removed. Repeat offenders who have posted such content may have their account permanently deleted. 

If you do find objectionable content in an area without a ‘flag’ icon, please tell us using the contact form at the bottom of the site to let us know the nature of the content and where you saw it, and we will investigate. If you have a concern that content is a copyright infringement, please tell us using the same form.
