Getafe v Mallorca, 17:00

In last weekend's Osasuna-Getafe match preview I highlighted the Azulones recently developed (bad) habit of allowing their opponents to score from misplaced Getafe passes.

There was no re-occurrence in Pamplona as the game ended in a 0-0 stalemate. I will, however, reserve judgement on Getafe's (21/20) problems until after this evening's home fixture with Mallorca (23/10).

The islanders easily beat Sporting 3-0 in Son Moix last weekend but, as we all know, away games are a very different proposition for Gregorio Manzano's boys. On the road, Mallorca have won 2, drawn 4 and lost 7.

Not an easy pick but, with Soldado (9/2 to score first, 5/4 anytime) in poor form and Mallorca poor on the road, I'm going for a draw (9/4) on my small stakes acc.

You can always bet in-play if you're not sure.

Sporting Gijon v Athletic Bilbao, 19:00-Sky Sports 3

Sporting lost 3-0 away to Mallorca last weekend, in the process ending their two game winning streak.

As suggested, Athletic easily beat Valladolid at San Mames, with a Llorente (11/2 to score first, 6/4 anytime) goal also disallowed. Toquero (13/2 to score first, 15/8 anytime) scored both goals in the 2-0 win, and hence earns a place on the goal scorer consideration list.

First instincts are often the most accurate I often find. With this one I'm picking a draw (11/5).

The reasoning is as follows: Sporting were poor in their last game, albeit an away one against a team with a great home record, and Athletic did as expected at home to Valladolid. On the road Athletic (9/5) could be considered average, at home Sporting (11/8) rarely lose.

If you're not convinced by my logic, betting In-play could prove fruitful.

Sevilla v Deportivo La Coruna, 21:00-Sky Sports 3

Sevilla provided another ideal bet in-play opportunity when they heartbreakingly lost 3-2 to Real Madrid last weekend.

The Rojiblancos did well to take a two goal lead in the Bernabeu, but once Real got a goal back, it was clear to see that there was only going to be one winner and so it proved.

Tonight Sevilla (8/13) face a Deportivo (4/1) team whose manager recently admitted that the team have little to play for given that they are not in Europe, and will not get relegated.

A common over achieving club mindset in Spain but, with Sevilla concentrating on their upcoming midweek Champions League match with CSKA Moscow, surely this is an ideal opportunity for sixth placed Deportivo to raise their ambition and go for the fourth Champions league spot. After all, only two points separate the clubs.

The Sevilla forwards are not in great form (although I do have a strange feeling that Negredo will score-9/2 first, 6/5 anytime), so if you want a goalscorer I would suggest taking a chance on Guardado (12/1 to score first, 5/1 anytime) who scored from distance in Deportivo's 3-1 home defeat of Tenerife last weekend.
